What ingredients are in the Baby Scalp Oil?
As the name suggests, our Baby Scalp Oil is made from natural oils, and nothing else. We use a nourishing blend of lavender oil, calendula oil, sweet almond oil, and jojoba oil.
How do I use the Baby Scalp Oil?
Shake well before use. Massage a generous amount of oil into your baby’s scalp, wherever needed. We recommend leaving the oil to work for at least an hour, so it can settle into the skin to lift even the most stubborn flakes. Use a soft baby brush to help gently remove flaky skin, followed by rinsing with your usual baby shampoo. Repeat this daily until all the flaky skin has been removed.
This oil also works a treat for maintaining a healthy-looking scalp, even after the flaky skin has been removed. You can continue to use it as part of your baby’s daily routine by massaging it into the scalp, followed by rinsing.
Are the ingredients suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes! In fact, all the ingredients were picked with sensitive skin in mind. Not only are the ingredients suitable for sensitive skin, but they help soothe irritated skin, and give it all the nourishment it needs.
Can you tell me what Linalool, Linalyl Acetate, Geraniol, and Limonene are?
You may be wondering what these compounds are since they are listed in our ingredients. Let's break it down for you so you know exactly what you're putting on your little one's skin:
Linalool: a naturally occurring compound found in many flowers and spice plants, particularly in lavender oil.
Linalyl Acetate: a naturally occurring compound found in essential oils, particularly lavender oil, and it is one of the key contributors to its characteristic fragrance.
Geraniol: one of the many naturally occurring compounds found in lavender oil, which contains aromatic compounds, each contributing to lavender's distinctive scent and therapeutic properties.
Limonene: a naturally occuring compound found in lavendar oil. Limonene imparts a citrusy or lemon-like fragrance, adding a bright, uplifting quality to the overall scent of lavender oil.
As described above, these are all naturally occurring compounds.
Your product uses sweet almond oil, can it still be used on those with nut allergies?
Depending on the way an oil has been processed, it is either classified as refined or unrefined. Refined oils have undergone more processing than unrefined, which make them unlikely to cause an allergic reaction. Considering this, we have opted to use refined sweet almond oil in our Baby Scalp Oil, making it much safer for those with nut allergies. Even though allergic reactions to the topical application of sweet almond oil are rare, we always recommend carrying out a patch test on a small area of skin prior to first use, and if you are unsure, please do consult your doctor.
Where do I store my Baby Scalp Oil?
We recommend storing your Baby Scalp Oil in a cool, dry place.
Is the Baby Scalp Oil suitable from birth?
Yes, our Baby Scalp Oil is suitable from birth. We always recommend carrying out a patch test prior to first use.
Will my baby require top up treatments?
For some babies, top up treatments may be required. Every baby is different, but if top up treatments are required, it will likely be a much smaller area of skin that you are treating compared to your initial treatment/s.
Where are your products made?
All of our products are manufactured in the UK, and this is something we are proud of. In line with strict British manufacturing standards, our products are made using the highest quality ingredients, without compromising on safety.
How long should I leave the Baby Scalp Oil on for?
We recommend leaving the oil to work on the scalp for at least an hour. For more stubborn flaky skin, you might want to try leaving it on for longer than this, such as a few hours, or even overnight if you wish. It’s perfectly safe to be left on for this length of time.
Can the Baby Scalp Oil be used for other purposes?
One thing we love about our Baby Scalp Oil is that it’s a multipurpose product. As well as working a dream on the scalp, it can also be used as a skin moisturiser for baby and you! It also works well as a nourishing hair mask – why not give it a try?
